But that's okay. Nobody said
we had to bother
with equality, or equal perception
of what it means to speak
freely and truly,
what it means to honour
everything that has become part of me;
maybe the other is meant to be Portuguese,
or Malay, or both, or none, or a mix of what one should still always see as
legitimate, as valid, as
coincidentally and synchronously opposite—
as a blend as living and as breathing
as the Earth that you and I visit
in our dreams, in our fantasies
where being does not mean having to over-reveal
what you need;
where seeing does not mean having to face
being redeemed.
