Not the Kristang revival, either in 1892 or in 2016;
not the Founders’ Memorial, so beautiful, and well-designed and clean.
Just the ways you try so hard to demean
someone you don’t understand. Someone you can’t control.
Someone who is free
from your perfidious influence, as you would have us believe
is how your team operates. How very Machiavellian,
as the Founder himself might say.
Please, just accept this—don’t give him any reason to get up out of the grave
and insist that what you’re doing is not being very nice
to the gays.
We don’t live in that Singapore anymore.
If you have a problem with the way the people have grown beyond Spectrum and Coldstore
then go get a life. Seriously. Because there is so much worth fighting for
that isn’t hyperabusive, and wrong on so many lives, and absolutely something that all of history will eventually abhor
when I learn whatever it is I learn that made you decide
that my MA in Archeoastronomy is suddenly not something you support.
In a manner of speaking,
the Eurasian destiny is fleeting:
no one really knows what it is, what our people are seeking
except a home. A sense that this place will finally respect us all.
If you’re getting in the way of that—
well, guess what?
I honestly don’t care. Your image is dripping in flaws
and blood, and pure, unadulterated evil, and all the people you tore
apart. And the families.
You claim that the gays are the malady,
when you are the one who has been eviscerating any Singaporean
who gives a damn about peace. Progress. Justice.
And Democracy.
I thought we lived in a fair, respectable country.
I thought we could do this better.
I thought we were finally going to get a real, true sense
of Equality.
