And you are not a real academic
if you think so, because you didn't even bother to check
what exactly the programme is about,
before trying to make me feel bad
as if your institution is so fucking proud
of what it has achieved. Of the students it has harmed.
Of the people and places it claims
cannot be found.
Where the heck did you park the Kristang
in the 2002 article on our Eurasian mother tongue?
How on earth am I supposed to trust you
when you treat me like
I am someone completely new
to science, and image, and truth?
Someone that you complain
has no proof.
I have so much that I don't even try to hide;
for starters you could try going to the Sophia Centre website
and taking a look at what the programme synopsis provides.
If you're so worried about your country's image,
because you gave so much to a gay, non-binary scholar trying to understand his own cosmological heritage,
then I'm sorry,
but where exactly is the fucking academic and scholarly interest?
Where is the unbiased, unvarnished attempt
to check your fucking privilege?
Where is the sense that I should get
that you realise you are committing what is essentially
academic sacrilege?
Where is the trust
that my own spirit of critical inquiry
is not finished
and by no means will ever be;
does scientific investigation now somehow have limits?
Or is rationality the domain of some fair-minded few
who want the rest of us to think
that we are somehow less worth it?
That we, and we alone
are the ones who pretend
that our approach to boundaries
is not actually primitive, idiotic and stupid?
