An appeal for clemency for Tangaraju and all human beings on death row from the leader of the Kristang community in Singapore and the last Merlionsman of the Republic of Singapore
Poem in English
The prompt today is I am proud.
And I am non-binary, and the leader of the Kristang, and gay,
but I'm not sure how to have any kind of fucking pride today.
What fucking for?
I am not sure what to do with my 2017 President's Volunteer & Philanthropy Award from the President of the Republic of Singapore
when she steadfastly continues to voluntarily refuse to do nothing at all.
I am not sure what I even saw
in you, Singapore,
when I said I would defend you psychoemotionally; what is there left to defend
when you yourself have such a gaping, frothing maw?
When you, Singaporean, will read this and think to yourself
he must surely have done something wrong.
When you, politician, will read this, and think to yourself
someone must take the fall.
When you go to sleep at night, content in the arms of the state
that encourages you to think nothing more
of this. It is what it is.
It is fair. It is equitable.
It is absolute and unquenchable
justice.
